Exodus 35:1-40:38 (P 668, RP 612, WTC 523)
We conclude the book of Exodus. The final verse of the book is chanted with a special melody. As the reader finishes chanting, the congregation rises. Before the oleh chants the concluding Torah blessing, the congregation chants "Chazak, Chazak, V'nitchazek." The Torah reader then chants the same words. The oleh then recites the concluding Torah blessing.

Shabbat HaChodesh is the fourth of the five special Shabbatot before Passover. In the special Torah reading for this Shabbat (Exodus 12:1-20), God instructs Moses and Aaron on how to observe the first Passover. The special Haftarah reading from Ezekiel discusses the observance of Passover in the Temple. These special readings are meant to draw our attention to the fact that Passover is approaching and to encourage us to begin our preparations.
